Stakeholder engagement
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) consulted with stakeholders in January 2023 on recommendations to stop production and distribution in Kenya of antibiotic compounds classified as reserved by the WHO, categorized as Critically Important Antimicrobial Agents (VCIA) by WOAH and ectoparasiticide products containing Chlorpyriphos, Cabaryl, and Malathion. The meeting came up with recommendations for all stakeholders to follow up on.
A follow-up meeting was held on February 7th, 2025. The following resolutions were made as per the attached communication
